Poll pictures two-horse race in presidential election

The latest opinion poll by Millward Brown indicates that both of the leading candidates in the 10 May presidential election are gaining support, while other entrants are falling by the wayside.

The poll predicts a second round between current head of state Bronisław Komorowski and conservative candidate Andrzej Duda, the latter backed by a coalition led by the Law and Justice party.
According to the statistics, Komorowski would garner 45 percent of the votes, up 3 percent on the last poll by Millward Brown in March.
Meanwhile, Duda would manage 28 percent, marking 2 percent more than in the previous poll.
In the absence of a candidate winning 50 percent, the race would go to a second round.

The biggest drop noted by Millward Brown concerns Magdalena Ogórek, the candidate of the Democratic Left Alliance. A fresh face on the political scene, she has suffered from being likened to a Barbie doll in the press. According to the poll she would only manage 4 percent, down 3 percent on the last poll.
Currently tied in third place are maverick right-wingers Janusz Korwin Mikke and Paweł Kukiz, the latter a former rock musician.
Liberal candidate Janusz Palikot, whose former party was the surprise success of the 2011 general election with 10 percent of the vote, would only garner 2 percent support. Adam Jarubas, who is backed by junior coalition partner the Polish People's Party, would also take just 2 percent.
According to Millward Brown, Komorowski would garner 55 percent of the votes in the second round, and Duda 40 percent. (nh)
