57 tonnes confiscated in illegal cigarette factory bust

Among 14 people detained on suspicion of illegally producing cigarettes, 12 are citizens of Ukraine, a police spokesperson said.

Following the collapse of several tobacco factories in Ukraine, the Polish crime syndicates imported experts to help with illegal production for the domestic market.

The machinery used at the tax-free facilities is also imported from the bankrupt Ukrainian factories, the police said. It is smuggled in parts across the border. (an)
