“Let those things which unite us be more important than those issues which divide us,” she said.

“Let us be together,” underlined Kopacz in her address, which was published on New Year’s Eve on the website of the prime minister.

“Let us find for each other kindness and sincerity,” Kopacz says, motivating Poles to “take on new challenges” and to contribute in “building the Poland of your aspirations”.

“Let this be a year of realising plans for all of us, let it bring a feeling of stability and pride of our homeland,” Kopacz said, before adding “Happy New Year!”

In her address, Prime Minister Kopacz also reminded Poles that 2014 was a year in which the country celebrated a number of important anniversaries, including 25 years since the first partially free elections, 10 years of EU membership as well as 15 years in the NATO alliance.

Kopacz also underlined that Poland will carry on undertaking an active foreign policy, “so that our country will continue to strengthen its position in the EU and confirm itself as a leader in the Central and Eastern European region”. (jb)
