The doctors were accused of having been under the influence of alcohol by the family of an elderly patient who died on Monday night, Polish Radio reports.

They were absent from the hospital in Limanowa, southern Poland, when the police arrived on the scene a quarter of an hour later.

The pair showed up at a police station on Wednesday afternoon, well over 24 hours after the incident.

Their blood samples were taken to determine alcohol content, but are unlikely to render useful results due to time lapse. (an)
