The two men, aged 27 and 34, were spotted running naked down a street in the town.

“They were very excited,” a police spokesman told the Rzeczpospolita daily.

“They were shouting that there were adders in their clothes.”

One of the men claimed that he had already been bitten.

The pair pointed to a pile of their clothes, but police officers could find no sign of reptilian life.

The men were then transported to the local police station.

“They said they could see adders in their clothes there as well,” the policeman noted.

A doctor was called, and after examining the pair, he concluded that the men had probably taken a psychoactive substance.

The older of the two was also found to have been under the influence of alcohol.

The two men could face a fine of up to 1500 zloty (358 euro) for indecent exposure. (nh)
