Tourists rescued in freezing Tatras

A mountain rescue team took three tourists unprepared for deteriorating weather conditions in the High Tatras off the Świnica mountain, as temperatures plunged to zero degrees.

Earlier, rescuers evacuated a drunken tourist who had fallen asleep on the Zawrat mountain pass.
Tatra Voluntary Rescue Service spokesman Krzysztof Długopolski said the three tourists had come to the Świnica mountain wearing flip-flops, as the first dust of snow lay on Poland's southern mountain range. (pg)
