“They are a 23-year-old inhabitant of Nowa Huta and his 27-year-old friend,” confirmed police spokesperson Katarzyna Cislo.

Tomasz J. (full name withheld under Polish privacy laws) died from knife-wounds to the chest in March 2013, at an apartment block in Nowa Huta.

“It was probably a fight been the residents of two adjacent blocks,” Cislo said.

Both police and medics attempted to save the 20-year-old, who rapped under the pseudonym of Papug (Parrots), but the wounds were fatal.

One man has already been charged, and a fourth is believed to be in hiding abroad. A European Arrest Warrant has been issued for the latter.

Nowa Huta, a major industrial hub, was built as a town in its own right in a bid by Poland's communist authorities to counterbalance Krakow's perceived conservative character. It was absorbed into Krakow in 1951. (nh)
