European Commission published the Innovation Union Competitiveness Report 2011 last week assessing the state of innovation support and implementation across the Union. While the Commission didn't find the European achievements in this area satisfactory, Poland found its results especially worrisome.
According to the report, Poland presented good attainments with regard to the level of education and professional qualifications of labor force. However, the country lags behind due to insufficient outlays for research and development, lack of direct links between research projects and business, small activity of small and medium size enterprises as well as a relatively small number of claimed and patented inventions.
Slawek Szefs talks to Marek Kłoczko, Secretary General of the Polish Chamber of Commerce.
