The 34-year-old athlete-turned-politician on Wednesday won a vote held by the Ad-Hoc European Committee for WADA (CAHAMA) in Strasbourg, France.
Bańka received 28 of 49 votes to comfortably defeat rival politicians from Norway and Belgium.
According to reports, he has a good chance of replacing Sir Craig Collins Reedie, the Scottish sports administrator and former member of the International Olympic Committee who has been president of WADA since 2014.
