Pole named most heroic RAF spitfire pilot
Polish pilot Franciszek Kornicki – who will be 101 next month – has won an online people's choice poll for the most heroic Royal Air Force Spitfire pilot.

Interviewed for Radio Poland, RAF Museum curator Peter Devitt said that the poll was not to “choose the best pilot but one with the most extraordinary story ... Kornicki, at 26, was the youngest Polish squadron commander”.
