Air pollution in the region has been deplorable with limit values for particulate matter in the air sometimes exceeded by more than 300 percent in some cities. As Michał Owczarek reports, to protect the health of its residents, the Silesian province has decided to introduce an anti-smog law as of September 1st.

"Smog takes one 1 year of our lives away. We live shorter and very often less comfortably as we keep getting ill,so we cannot turn a blind eye to this problem," says the head of the regional assembly Wojciech Saługa.
