Elżbieta Krajewska talked to two researchers who have been part of a team recording the natural ambiance of Białowieża forest in eastern Poland exactly with this intent.
As Professor Jerzy Wiciak and Paweł Małecki from the University of Science and Technology in Kraków told her, one of the most astonishing sounds to experience in the midst of this primeval forest was the sound… of silence.
