An ongoing conflict over a new law on the Constitutional Tribunal, legislation concerning public media, cuts in the budget of the Ombudsman's Office, as well as issues connected with women's rights and gender equality - those are the main issues that have evoked concern from Commissioner Nils Muiznieks, who presented a report in Warsaw on Wednesday.
Sławek Szefs reports on the Polish government’s response to strong criticism from Muiznieks.
"It comes as a surprise that the Commissioner has relied on assurances made by some NGOs without any verification whatsoever and not asking the government to take a stand. We have done this in our reply to the report,” said Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksander Stępkowski.
