Set in 1943, it has four protagonists, a Polish railway man, a German gendarme, a Jewish girl who escaped from a transport to a concentration camp, and a Polish country girl.
In an interview with Radio Poland, Rogalski describes the film as “a story of losing innocence and of opportunism being born”.
