Education law in Lithuania continues to spark off tensions on the line Warsaw-Vilnius
Several hundered people, representatives of the Polish community in Lithuiania, were protesting last week in Vilnius against the new bill which comes into effect as of July 1 and is seen as a threat to the Polish education in Lithuania.
The bill, which envisages the introduction of more subjects in Lithuaniana and an obligatory unified exam of the Lithuanian language for all schools in 2013, has been termed by the Polish minority as a vilation of the Polish Lithuanian Friendship Treaty.
The amended bill has re opened discussion on the tense relations between Poland and Lithuania.
