In this week's Diplomatic Bag, we tackle the issue of 'enlargement fatigue' in the European Union
Hosted by Magdalena Jensen
The 2004 accession of Poland and other Central European countries to the EU, followed by the 2007 addition of Romania and Bulgaria has tempered out and caused a bit of hesitation as comes to opening up the Union to other countries. Currently, Croatia is waiting in the wings and is expected to close a chapter this year. Whether or not that will lead to other Western Balkan countries negotiating accession or not remains ot be seen.
