Economic sanctions that have hurt Iran’s economy for more than a decade were lifted over the weekend after a UN agency confirmed that the Islamic Republic had complied with a deal reached with the US and European powers last summer to curtail its nuclear program.

The lifting of the sanctions coincided with the arrival of a large business delegation from the eastern Iranian province of Khorasan in Poland on Monday.

In an exclusive interview with Radio Poland's Danuta Isler, the Iranian Ambassador in Warsaw, Ramin Mehmanparast, explained why Poland is among the first countries to be approached.

"The atmosphere is very good for cooperation now between Iran and other countries, especially European countries, and Poland can be the first in this queue because we have historical relations as well as official relations - and both nations like each other," the ambassador told our reporter.
