The initiative is being spearheaded by the Warsaw-based Ester Foundation, with most of the refugees hailing from Damascus, taking in 300 families.

“We have financing, these 300 families will be taken in by parishes and churches all over Poland,” foundation head Miriam Shaded told TVP.

Interior Ministry spokesperson Małgorzata Wożniak is optimistic that the project can be finalised, with only some details to be straightened out.

The next meeting on the matter is scheduled for Thursday.
