This year marks the 70th anniversary of the liquidation of the Litzmannstadt or Łódź Ghetto, the second-largest ghetto established for Jews and Romani people in Nazi German-occupied Poland.

To mark the occasion the Marek Edelman Dialogue Center is hosting a series of commemorative events in Łódź.
"The commemoration is very important because we want to underline that we remember this population" Joanna Podolska, the director of the Center has told our reporter Danuta Isler.
Over 204,000 Jews passed through the Litzmannstadt Ghetto, the last to be liquidated in Poland, with prisoners being taken to Auschwitz and Chełmno extermination camps,
The last transport out of the ghetto took place on August 29, 1944.
