Under the plan, Krakow, Poland's second largest city, would host the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Games as well as the majority of the events played on ice.

The mountain resort of Zakopane would host snowboarding, cross country skiing and the biathlon competitions, while ice hockey and alpine skiing events would take place in Slovakia. The total cost of hosting the Games has been estimated at 2 bln USD.

The deadline for bids is November 14 and the winning city will be announced at the IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur on July 31, 2015.

To find out more about the selection process and the chances of the Polish bid Danuta Isler talked to Thomas Bach, the president of the IOC and Jagna Marczulajtis, former Olympic snowboarder and the head of the Zakopane Bidding Committee.
