British historian Anthony Kemp-Welch gives tribute to the life and work of former prime minister Tadeusz Mazowiecki, who died last Monday.
On Saturday the body of Tadeusz Mazowiecki lies in state in the chapel of the Presidential Palace and on Sunday, which has been declared a day of national mourning, Mazowiecki will be buried in his family grave in Laski near Warsaw, in a small cemetery close to the Institute of the Blind.
The funeral will be preceded by a mass at St John’s Cathedral in Warsaw.
Reporter Michal Kubicki talked to Anthony Kemp-Welch of the University of East Anglia, whose work Poland under Communism, has just been published in a Polish translation.
