A new book by Dr. Katka Reszke explores the revival of Jewish life in Poland and the phenomenon of young Poles rediscovering their Jewish roots.

Return of the Jew: Identity Narratives of the Third Post-Holocaust Generation of Jews in Poland, “gives rare – and welcome -- voice to the actual protagonists, Poland’s 'new Jews' [in their] quest for place, identity and selfhood amid the brave new Jewish realities of post-communist Poland,” writes Jewish journalist and author Ruth Ellen Gruber in one of many rave reviews of the book published by Academic Studies Press this February.

Combining personal interviews and social research the book provides the reader with a lucid understanding of current Jewish life in Poland.

“We [Polish-Jews] are probably the most closely monitored Jewish community in the world today. The New York Times publishes an article on Jewish life in Poland every few months,” Katka Reszke tells our reporter Hagay Hacohen on why she decided to pursue this fascinating area of research.
