"Poles may not feel satisfied with their level of affluence, yet if we ask citizens of many Latin American, Asian or African countries whether Poland is a rich country, their answer will surely be 'YES, because it is an EU member,'" said the International Department Director at the National Bank of Poland (NBP) Paweł Samecki.
Samecki says that's why these countries expect Poland to participate in this joint effort of assisting development programs in economically less successful nations.
The biggest sum of Polish aid went to Belarus last year, worth around 10 million euro. Projects in North Africa and the Middle East received slightly less than a million euro from Poland's foreign aid fund reports Slawek Szefs.
