The state-backed Institute of National Rembrance (IPN) says using comic books to teach history is a good way to bring the past closer to today's kids.

As Slawek Szefs reports, the first history-related titles by IPN that appeared on the Polish market a few years ago met with a critical response. But now the idea has caught on, gaining positive reviews.

"One series of comic books are set during the Second World War. Another series relates to post-war times and activities of underground organizations fighting for national sovereignty and in the anti-Soviet resistance,” says Andrzej Arseniuk, Deputy Chairman at the Institute of National Remembrance, after the launch of a series of graphic-based books on historical topics.
