An autographed manuscript of Lutosławski's incidental music for the theatre has reemerged in an archive.

In the 1950s and 60s, Lutosławski wrote illustrative music for many radio plays and theatre productions. His music for No Trifling with Love by the 19th-century French playwright Alfred de Musset has been discovered in the archive of Tadeusz and Irena Byrski, the husband-and-wife team of theatre directors.

2013 is the Witold Lutosławski Year- a celebration of the life and work of the famous Polish composer who was born 100 years ago.

Listen to the story, which also includes an excerpt from Lutosławski’s only work for solo flute.
