The fate of the EU budget for the next financial perspective is now in the hands of the European Parliament with Poland standing to gain from its approval.
Though a compromise on Union funds to be made available in the 2014-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework had been painstakingly reached by member country leaders in Brussels, some strong criticism has been voiced by Polish members of parliament regarding the scope of cuts in spending agreed at the summit.
"I cannot imagine any Polish European Parliament member voting against a budget which is in compliance with Polish expectations and provides Poland with the opportunity of developing a competitive infrastructure by European standards and supports agriculture," said head of Poland's diplomacy Radoslaw Sikorski.
