Sports minister Joanna Mucha presented a list of 'strategic sports disciplines' that will continue to receive funding from the government.

The list is part of a special 'recovery programme' following Poland's poor performance at the Summer Olympic Games in London.

Disciplines like swimming, biking and sailing among others have been declared as giving Poland the biggest medal chances during the next Olympic Games and will continue to receive money from the ministry.

As Danuta Isler reports, the remaining disciplines will have their funds cut in order to increase their effectiveness - said Joanna Mucha.

As expected, the proposed changes were met with opposition from the association whose athletes saw less spectacular Olympic perfomances and whose budgets will consequently be cut.
