  • Vistula receids, reveals treasures. Report by Alicja Baczynska.
Archaeologists revel over artifacts revealed due to low water levels, but the ongoing drought in Poland is a concern.

Wonders of 17th century interiors washed up on the Vistula shore last week. The receding water revealed artifacts from a Swedish ship, which once carried items pillaged from Warsaw's Royal Castle.

History fans rejoiced but after an insufficient snow last winter and relatively dry summer, water shortages have already been reported in a number of locations along the river.

Alicja Baczynska talks to history and water economy experts about the after-effects of Vistula's lowering water levels.
