Seeking to help the dead return home. Danuta Isler talks to Christine Cohn from the United States Defense Prisoner of War/Missing Personnel Office.
A team of specialists is on a mission to make good on US government's promise to recover remains of military personnel thought to have perished in Polish territory.
A team from the United States Defense Prisoner of War/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) composed of two historians, a military analyst and a military linguist is currently in Poland to search for information about the whereabouts of the remains of over 100 American soldiers and airmen.
"The US government has made a promise to ensure... full recovery of all missing personnel,"
Christine Cohn, the leader of the team, told our reporter Danuta Isler.
"The Return of the World War II Dead Program" seeks military personnel who remain unaccounted for since the war. Current mission in Poland focuses primarily on the areas surrounding Kedzierzyn-Kozle, Wrocław, Szczecin, and Kostrzyn.
