The Polish Humanitarian Action's (PAH) “a world without hunger" campaign aims to give relief to some of the estimated six million people who are malnourished in the deeply isolationist south east Asian country.
Vice-president of the NGO, Grzegorz Gruca, says contacts within North Korea have already been made and the food will be distributed through kindergartens, schools and hospitals.
The country has been struck with many natural disasters over the last 12 months, such as floods and record low winter temperatures, which have adversely affected harvests and stocks of food.
Donations can be made through the PAH web site. (pg)
