Israeli midfielder Aviram Baruchyan has signed a contract to play for Polish premier league side Polonia Warszawa.
Having passed his medical tests on Monday, the 26-year-old signed a deal which will see him play a minimum two-and-a-half-year stint at Warsaw's oldest club.
Baruchyan formerly played for Beitar Jerusalem, joining the club's senior team in the 2002/2003 season.
In his 221 games for the side, the midfielder put away 36 goals.
Having played for his country's junior teams, Baruchyan made his debut for the Israeli national side in 2007, making nine further appearances since then, and scoring two goals.
Explaining his move to Israeli national paper Haaretz, he said he had mixed feelings about leaving Beitar Jerusalem, which is in danger of running adrift.
“The team's situation pains me,” he said.
“For a long time I wanted to fulfil my dream of playing in Europe, and I'm leaving with a difficult feeling.
“It's not simple leaving Beitar. I believe the team will remain in the premier league.” (nh)
