Speedway fan hit by police car funeral

Police have called for calm ahead of the funeral today of a speedway fan who died under the wheels of an unmarked police car, Monday night.

The death caused rioting in the southern city of Zielona Gora, with police using water canon and tear gas to gain control.
The funeral will take place at noon, Thursday.
The district prosecutor who is investigating the death said that the 23 year-old had been drinking before he died while celebrating his local speedway team winning the league.
He had walked out into the middle of the road while talking on a mobile phone when the car hit him.
He died instantly. (pg)
