Poland take home 14 medals from European Games

Poland have picked up 14 medals -- three golds, one silver and 10 bronzes -- at the 2019 European Games in Belarus.

On the last day of the games on Sunday, track cyclist Daniel Staniszewski won a bronze in the omnium.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Arkadiusz Kułynycz clinched a bronze in wrestling.

Boxer Karolina Koszewska (69 kg) on Saturday won gold after beating Italy’s Assunta Canfora.

On Friday, Polish boxers Sandra Drabik (51 kg) and Elżbieta Wójcik (75 kg) won bronzes.

Poland’s first gold of the games in Minsk came from gymnasts Łukasz Jaworski and Artur Zakrzewski in the men’s synchronised trampoline competition last Monday.

The second gold for Poland was picked up by sprint canoeist Tomasz Kaczor on Wednesday.

Polish cyclist Filip Prokopyszyn won a silver in the men's scratch on Thursday.

More than 4,000 athletes from 50 countries competed in Minsk for 200 sets of medals in 23 sports during the 2nd European Games, which provide a gateway to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for European athletes.
