The Pole on Wednesday won the men's C1 1000 metres race at the Zaslavl Regatta Course near the Belarusian capital Minsk.

Russia’s Kirill Shamshurin took the silver, while German Sebastian Brendel walked away with the bronze.

Poland’s first gold of the Games came from gymnasts Łukasz Jaworski and Artur Zakrzewski in the men’s synchronised trampoline competition on Monday.

More than 4,000 athletes from 50 countries are competing in Minsk for 200 sets of medals in 23 sports during the 2nd European Games, which provide a gateway to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for European athletes.
