Tennis: Poland’s Świątek loses in final at Lugano

Rising Polish tennis star Iga Świątek has been beaten in the final of the WTA Samsung Open in Lugano, but her run in the Swiss tournament marks the biggest success of her career.

In a match full of twists and turns, Świątek lost to Slovenia’s Polona Hercog 3-6, 6-3, 3-6.
The encounter on Sunday was the first time the 17-year-old Pole made it into the final of a Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tournament.
Świątek is now set to move up into the top 100 in women’s tennis as her WTA ranking improves.
The Pole last year won the junior singles title at the Wimbledon championships in London.
