Barcelona’s Argentinian ace Lionel Messi leads the race for the European Golden Shoe award for the top scorer of the 2018/2019 season, with 33 goals, ahead of Kylian Mbappé of French side PSG, with 27.
Lewandowski and Piątek are in joint third place, each with 21 goals.
Lewandowski scored a double as his Bayern Munich side routed Dortmund 5-0 in a German Bundesliga match on Saturday, bringing his total Bundesliga goal tally to 201.
The Polish goal machine last month became the highest-scoring foreign player of all time in Germany’s Bundesliga top-flight football league.
Meanwhile, Poland's Piątek has sparkled in his first season in Italy’s top Serie A league. He scored a goal as his side AC Milan lost 1-2 to Juventus on Saturday.
