Swimming: European championship silver for Poland’s Kawęcki

Poland’s Radosław Kawęcki has taken the silver in the men’s 200 m backstroke at the European Swimming Championships in Glasgow.

Russia’s Evgeny Rylov won the event on Wednesday, with a time of 1:53.36, setting a new European record, while Kawęcki touched in at 1:56.07.
Italy’s Matteo Restivo finished third with 1:56.29.
Kawęcki’s silver was the second medal for Poland at the European Swimming Championships in Glasgow, after a bronze in the men's 4x100 freestyle relay.
The swimming competition in the Scottish city was due to end on Thursday.
