Kubot and Melo, ranked world No. 1 in the doubles, saw off India’s Rajeev Ram and America’s Divij Sharan 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4 in a third-round encounter on Monday.

Next up for the top-seeded Polish-Brazilian pair is the winner of a match between Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and a Japanese-German team of Ben Mclachlan and Jan-Lennard Struff.

Before coming to Melbourne, Kubot and Melo won the doubles at the Sydney International tennis tournament in Australia.
