"It was very difficult to maintain my concentration at such a high level," said the Polish tennis player after Sunday’s game, adding that she could have played more aggressively.

Linette made it through to the third round after beating Croatia’s Ana Konjuh 6:0, 7:5.

That victory on Thursday saw the 25-year-old Pole advancing to the third round of a Grand Slam singles tournament for the first time in her career.

Poland’s Marcin Matkowski and his Czech partner Lucie Hradecká will play on Monday for a place in the semi-finals in the mixed doubles.

The 36-year-old is the last Pole left in the French Open.

Matkowski and Hradecká will take on Australia’s Casey Dellacqua and America’s Rajeev Ram in the quarterfinals.
