Tennis: Kubot and Melo win ATP tournament in Madrid

Poland’s Łukasz Kubot and his Brazilian partner Marcelo Melo have won the doubles final of the ATP Masters 1000 tennis tournament in Madrid.

The pair beat France’s Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin 7:5, 6:3.
Kubot and his partner did not have to play a semi-final as their opponents, Australia’s Nick Kyrgios and America’s Jack Sock, withdrew after Kyrgios suffered a hip injury.
Sunday’s match was the fifth time Kubot and Melo reached the final of such a tournament. Previously they won twice in Vienna and once in Miami, and were defeated in March in Indian Wells.
