Artur Boruc bids farewell to Poland squad

Artur Boruc announced on Wednesday that his days as a goalkeeper for Poland were over.

"I would like to inform all concerned that I’ve made a decision that I’ve been carrying inside myself for some time,” Boruc said on a social networking site.
“Due to my health and my ‘advanced’ age and the competition.. due to my peace of mind and that of my family, I’m ending my beautiful adventure with the Polish national football squad," he added.
The 37-year-old, who is goalkeeper for England’s Premier League club Bournemouth, previously played for Legia Warszawa, Celtic and Fiorentina.
He has 64 caps for Poland. He made his debut for the squad in 2004 against Ireland (0:0) while his last game for the national team was November’s friendly with Slovenia (1:1).
Boruc was first-choice goalkeeper for Poland during the World Cup in 2006 and in Euro 2008. He won praise for his skills, even though fans moaned about the team’s performance as a whole.
Last year Boruc was called up for Poland duty but only as a reserve.
