Linette into quarter-finals of Katowice Open

Magda Linette beat Stefanie Voegele 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 on Thursday evening, winning a place in the quarter-finals of the WTA Katowice Open.

Linette's victory against the Swiss challenger paves the way for the Pole's first ever appearance in the quarter-finals of the event in the Silesian city.
“Year by year it's been going better for me,” the 24-year-old said after the match.
“I'm happy that I'm finally playing well in Poland and able to give the fans a kick, because I wait all year to play here.
“It's a shame that Agnieszka is not playing here,” she said of Poland's No.1 Agnieszka Radwanska.
“But it just gives me extra motivation,” she added.
Linette is currently No.104 is the WTA rankings, and is now poised to enter the top hundred.
She is set to face French player Pauline Parmentier in the quarter-finals. (nh/pk)
