“We have allocated around PLN 6 million [USD 1.5 million, EUR 1.4 million] for this purpose,” Sports Minister Witold Bańka told the PAP news agency. “Polish fans can sleep peacefully at night.”

After the current season, International Ski Federation (FIS) approval for using the Wielka Krokiew jump ends.

Modernisation plans include building an artificially-cooled ski jump, as required by FIS.

The system currently in place allows jumping to take place at a maximum temperature of eight degrees Celsius.

The new system will allow competition even when the mercury hits 20 degrees. (pk)
