The fine follows on from a decision to fine the club PLN 200,000 and close their next UEFA match to fans over another incident.

On 22 July, a banner was unfurled at a match against FK Sarajevo with the slogan 'The Piła Legion: The Blood of our Race.”

UEFA concluded that the slogan was racist.

The punishments have been suspended, pending an appeal.

The Polish Football Association (PZPN) has intervened on Lech's behalf, claiming that “it fully accepts the zero tolerance policy regarding racism and nazism, but that it should be emphasized that, according to [Lech Poznan], its supporters and observers, the banner did not display racist contents.”

Lech Poznań won their seventh Polish title this year, after managing a 0-0 draw with Wisła Kraków on the last day of the season. (nh)
