The US team takes on France two hours earlier in Rio, with another semi-final berth in the 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League open to the winner.

"Preparations are in full swing,” Marcin Możdżonek wrote on Facebook. “A final victory is valuable, because the best team will get to split a million dollars.”

“The Italians should not be underestimated. Although coach Mauro Berruto sent home four core players – the captain Travica Dragana, Ivan Zaytsev, Giulio Sabbi and Luigi Randazzo - for disciplinary reasons, Italy were still able to beat Serbia. On Wednesday, they beat them 3:2 and proved they must still be reckoned with.”

The 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League is the 26th edition of the annual men's international volleyball tournament which runs from 16 May to 19 July 2015. (jh)
