Canoeist Wojnarowska wins second medal in Baku

Ewelina Wojnarowska took bronze on Tuesday in the Kayak Single (K1) 500m, her second medal in the 1st European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The Pole was pipped to the post by Hungary's Danuta Kozak and Austria's Yvonne Schuring.

Wojnarowska's success follows on from her team's bronze in the Women's Kayak 4 (K4) 500m on Monday.

Poland is currently coming 19th in the overall medals table, with one silver and four bronze medals.

Russia is leading the field, with a tally of 17 medals, including 10 golds. Host nation Azerbaijan is in second place with 18 medals, among them 7 golds.

The 1st European Games run until 28 June. (nh)
