“This is a dream come true for me,” said Lech coach Maciej Skorża.
“I've only been working since September, and although this season has really taken its toll on my health, I'm very happy today,” he added.
A Lech loss would have given defending champions Legia Warszawa the title, with the Warsaw side just three points behind the Poznań team on Sunday morning in Poland's top level Ekstrasklasa League.
However, while Legia notched up a 2-0 win over Górnik Zabrze, the Poznań side proved unshakeable, keeping Wisła Kraków at bay.
It is the first time that the Poznań side has won the Polish title since the 2009-2010 season.
Lech ultimately wrapped up the season with 43 points, followed by Legia with 42 and Jagiellonia Białystok with 41.
Nevertheless, jubilant spirits in Poznań led to some rioting in the city's Old Town, with 58 people detained on Sunday night after the match. (nh)
