No. 1 seed Agnieszka Radwańska had the rug pulled from under her feet in the semi-final of the WTA Katowice Open, with Italian Camila Giorgi winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, Saturday evening.

Hopes had been running high that Radwańska would win on home turf, but it was not to be.

''Somehow the match went very fast, and I did everything that was in my power,” she told Polish Radio after the match.

Giorgi did not drop a single service game, and won five games in a row in the second set.

''It was the best match I've played so far this week,'' the Italian said in an interview with WTA.

''I felt good. I was playing with confidence. I was really consistent and aggressive, and even if I made mistakes, I stayed focused.''

Giorgi will play Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in Sunday's final. (nh)
