Agnieszka Radwańska managed a comfortable win over Czech player Klara Koukalova 6:1, 6:1 in Friday night’s quarter-final in Katowice, with Saturday’s semi-final billed against Italy’s Camila Giorgi.

This match “takes it to the next level,” Radwańska told journalists following her victory over Koukalova, adding that Giorgi “has played really well in Katowice, and she already showed last year that she can play very aggressive tennis”.
If Radwańska wins Saturday’s match it will be the first time that she goes into a WTA final on home turf: previously, at tournaments in Katowice and Warsaw, the Kraków-born 26-year-old never managed to pass the semi-final stage. (jb)
