The Poles lost 1-5, a result which does not reflect the game itself, trainer Karol Śnieżek told the PAP news agency.

“The match started really well for us,” Śnieżek said, adding that “we took the lead early on and we had a number of chances to increase our score.”

“We couldn’t make use of all the short corners we were given, while our rivals [Austria] managed to level the score and found their rhythm and became much more effective than us,” Poland’s hockey trainer said.

The Poles now play the loser of the quarter final between Russia and Iran on Saturday evening. (jb)
